Cabinet clocks were typical of Late Baroque table and console clocks. This clock in Pilsen’s museum collections was among the original furnishings of the Franciscan Monastery in Pilsen. It is a prime example of regional craftsmanship, with the clockmaker’s work primarily focusing on the inner workings of the clock. The other elements, especially the cast metal appliqués but also the woodworked cabinet, were purchased from specialised producers; the relief figure of a seated man at the top of the cabinet can be found on clocks from other clockmakers’ workshops.
